Lazaros from the Church of Agios Lazaros.
A tradition connects the passage of Agios Lazaros from Kition to Alykes (Sailt
Lake). This tradition says that the Salt lake of Larnaca at that time was a vast
vineyard. Saint Lazarus, one day, stopped in Larnaca and asked the landlord for
some grapes to quench his thirst. But she refused and when the Saint showed
her a basket that seemed to be full of grapes, she replied that it contained salt.
Then the Saint, in order to punish the wickedness and hypocrisy of those people,
turned the vast vineyard into a lake of salt.
In the orchard among other trees and plants, there are 100 vineyards.
